October 14-18, 2013 Be BC, not PC! (Biblically Correct, not Politically Correct) Ephesians 4:15, Psalm 85:10

I love the Lord don’t you?! If you are reading this, I sure hope you do. Since we are on a short fall break today and tomorrow (Monday and Tuesday) from school, I flew up to DC to visit my daughter at GW, and we took the Megabus to Philly to see the historical sites. Rachel and I are both history geeks, so it was wonderful to see where our founding fathers gathered to work, worship, and build our great republic. (Ben Franklin is my favorite!) It disturbed me terribly though as we listened to the cleric who delivered Sunday morning’s message at Christ Church, the church, by the way, where a few of our founding fathers were parishioners and are interred. I’ll never understand how such erroneous teaching can come from a pulpit. You see, sin is what put our Savior on the cross, and sin is what separates us from Him. We simply can’t pick and choose what’s right and what’s wrong. God’s word tells us these things. He created us and loves us so much that He sent his Son to die for us, and that makes us pretty darn special to Him, right? Since He created us and loves us so much, He knows what’s best for us. So what is best for us as far as the relationships of men and women are concerned? His word says that a man should leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife and to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis). He destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because of homosexuality and immorality (hence our sodomy laws), and He said in the New Testament that this same sin is shameful and unnatural (Romans chapter 1), and that if you practice it you will not inherit the kingdom of God (1st Corinthians 6:9). I also firmly believe that our heavenly Father wants children to have both a father and a mother, because He made sure Jesus had both a father and a mother. So imagine my distress, when a pastor, who is given the sacred privilege of preaching God’s perfect word, sprinkles the message with stories and references that it is ok for a man to be with a man, and a woman to be with a woman. God’s word says for certain that there is a harsher judgment for those who teach. The truth must be preached, not a worldly message. We may choose to reject God, and He lets us, but to reject God is to reject heaven. If you don’t want to live with Him now, you won’t want to live with Him when you die. He loves us so much that He let’s us choose. Since God does everything out of a heart of love, we are to LOVINGLY speak the truth. Sometimes it may be a hard for people to hear, but it is God’s word, not ours, that matters. You may ask me what does this have to do with teaching? You know as teachers we teach the curriculum we are given, but my fellow teachers, if this message from hell is coming from pastors, eventually it will, and is, going to infect our curriculum. I challenge you – if you see any reference to this in your state or common core curriculum, mark through it and move on. Don’t let this poison into your classroom. I am reposting my blog-cast from a few weeks ago, called Be BC, not PC! I hope it helps you if you are teaching at a school where people simply don’t care about what God’s word says. God bless you and keep pressing on!
